An analysis of the balance sheet reveals a general expansion of the total liability profile paired with significant shifts in the company's capital structure and obligations over the period from March 2021 to June 2026. Total liabilities increased from 87.2 billion USD to 105.8 billion USD, while total equity experienced a period of contraction before stabilizing near 68.1 billion USD.

Current Liabilities and Operational Obligations
A substantial upward trend is observed in current liabilities, which grew from 36.3 billion USD in March 2021 to 63.2 billion USD by June 2026. This growth is primarily driven by a significant increase in contract liabilities, which rose from 12.8 billion USD to 22.6 billion USD, suggesting a higher volume of advance payments or deferred revenue. Accounts payable also showed a consistent increase, rising from 9.1 billion USD to 16.9 billion USD over the same period.
Long-Term Debt and Funding Patterns
Long-term debt excluding current portions exhibited volatility, peaking at 42.3 billion USD in late 2023 before trending downward to 31.8 billion USD by June 2026. This indicates a period of aggressive borrowing followed by a phase of debt reduction. Concurrently, long-term debt currently due saw a sharp increase toward the end of the series, reaching 5.2 billion USD in June 2026, indicating a concentration of upcoming maturities.
Pension and Benefit Obligations
A marked reduction is evident in future pension and postretirement benefit obligations. These liabilities decreased from 9.8 billion USD in March 2021 to 1.9 billion USD in June 2026, representing a significant deleveraging of long-term employee-related obligations.
Equity and Capital Management
Shareowners' equity displayed a non-linear trend, peaking in early 2021 and experiencing a notable dip to 59.7 billion USD in December 2023 before recovering to 66.3 billion USD by mid-2026. This volatility is largely explained by the aggressive expansion of treasury stock, which grew from 10.7 billion USD to 26.7 billion USD, reflecting significant share repurchase activity. This activity partially offset the steady growth in retained earnings, which rose from 49.4 billion USD to 58.0 billion USD.
Overall Solvency and Leverage
The total capital base expanded from 160.6 billion USD to 173.9 billion USD. However, the increase in total liabilities has outpaced the growth in total equity, leading to a higher overall leverage ratio by the end of the analyzed period.
