The debt-to-equity ratio exhibited significant fluctuations over the analyzed period, spanning from 2005 to 2025. Initially, the ratio was relatively high, indicating a substantial reliance on debt financing compared to equity. However, a marked decrease was observed in the latter half of the 2000s, followed by a period of relative stability, and then a substantial increase in recent years.

Early Period (2005-2009)
From 2005 to 2009, the debt-to-equity ratio demonstrated a strong downward trend. Beginning at 6.18 in 2005, it decreased substantially, reaching a low of 0.02 in 2009. This suggests a significant shift in the company’s capital structure, with a reduced dependence on debt and a corresponding increase in equity financing. The decrease in long-term debt, coupled with growing stockholders’ equity, drove this trend.
Period of Stability (2010-2014)
Between 2010 and 2014, the debt-to-equity ratio remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 0.03 and 0.77. While some variation existed, the ratio generally remained low, indicating a conservative capital structure. Stockholders’ equity continued to grow, while long-term debt experienced moderate increases.
Recent Increases (2015-2025)
From 2015 onwards, the debt-to-equity ratio began to increase more noticeably. The ratio rose from 0.62 in 2015 to 0.46 in 2021, before peaking at 0.46. A subsequent decrease was observed in 2022 and 2023, reaching 0.29 and 0.18 respectively. However, the ratio increased again in 2024 and 2025, reaching 0.16. This increase coincided with substantial growth in both long-term debt and stockholders’ equity, with debt growing at a faster rate than equity in the later years. The substantial increases in long-term debt, particularly between 2017 and 2021, were primary drivers of this trend.

Overall, the company’s capital structure has evolved considerably over the analyzed period. The initial shift towards lower leverage was followed by a period of stability, and more recently, a trend of increasing debt relative to equity. While the ratio remains below the initial levels observed in 2005, the recent increases warrant continued monitoring to assess potential financial risks.
